Job a Nightmare? Check Out The World's Most Haunted Workplaces!

The strains of a modern workplace are tough enough - without having to factor in spooks and ghouls as well!

Job a Nightmare? Check Out The World's Most Haunted Workplaces!

IF YOU thought your job was a 'nightmare', think again.

Because at least you're not a trembling staff member at one of the world's most haunted WORKPLACES.

From office blocks and train stations, to furniture stores and swanky hotels, some jobs come with supernatural 'perks'.

And this list of spooks, poltergeists and spectres reported at firm buildings may have you giving a PowerPoint presentation to the paranormal!

The list has been compiled by leading UK business energy price comparison website Love Energy Savings, who pride themselves on staff wellbeing.

Company boss Phil Foster says: “We've got a brave and dedicated workforce here, but hats off to any staff members who have to deal with ghosts as well as the stresses and strains of modern workplaces - as they’re going above and beyond the call of duty.

“And while we specialise in saving businesses money on their energy bills, I think it's fair to say we'd also be leaving the lights on in some of these premises...”

Here Love Energy Savings reveal their pick of the workplaces where staff truly earn their pay-packet:

THE LANGHAM HOTEL, London, UK:
The historic Langham Hotel was said to be Europe's first 'Grand Hotel' when it opened in the mid-1800s. And since then, it's been unnerving guests and staff members. In 2014, England cricketer Stuart Broad said of his recent stay, 'All of a sudden the taps in the bathroom came on for no reason. I turned the lights on and the taps turned themselves off. Then when I turned the lights off again the taps came on. It was very weird.' Room 333 is said to be particularly 'active', with one desk clerk at the hotel telling Huffington Post recently, 'Sometimes we have to put people there, but they're the ones who don't know about the stories. Me, I wouldn't even step foot on the third floor. I believe in those things.'

LAW SCHOOL, Los Angeles, California:
Students and lecturers mingle at the Southwest Law School, housed in the Bullocks Wilshire Building in California. A recent article on the Daily Bruin student newspaper revealed how night security guards are prone to quitting due to paranormal activity. Journalist Eli Countryman recently toured the building and writes, 'Officers Cindy Lopez and David Mendoza were on duty and had stories to tell. Lopez told us she refused to do any more graveyard shifts after the glass door of her office mysteriously shattered one night. She was pregnant at the time, and was the only one in the room, with no external force that should have been affecting the door, she said. Mendoza also pulled up a surveillance video in which a metal-framed food menu in the cafeteria pivoted back and forth about its centre before flying to the ground. The incident took place in the middle of the night and there was nobody in the room...'

CASTLEFIELD HOUSE, Manchester, UK.
This office block, located on Manchester's Liverpool Road, shot to fame in 2016 after CCTV footage emerged showing a workplace being trashed by what appears to be an angry poltergeist. Chairs fly across a room, doors rattle in their frame. And the footage, uploaded to the YouTube channel Southport TV, has now had almost three million views. The vid blurb states: “This is the actual footage seen by those security guards as they flicked from camera to camera....”

SOFA WORKSHOP, Chester, UK:
This shop sits on Chester's historic Watergate Street and offers more than just swanky new couches. In October last year long-serving staff member Lizzy Weston said, 'Myself and some of the other staff here are absolutely convinced that we’ve got some kind of ghost in the shop. A few of the team have seen a small shadowy figure moving across the upstairs gallery within the shop and we can’t find a logical explanation as to what it may be. One of the former residents that lived above our shop also told me that she used to hear the sound of a small boy from time to time playing with what sounded like wooden toys.'

SKYSCRAPER, Tokyo, Japan:
The 'Sunshine 60' building was once the tallest in Asia, and houses everything from banks and office space to cafes and toddler day care centres. But it's also said to be bustling with spooks, too. The Mysterious Universe website reveals, 'Workers report seeing fleetingly glimpsed apparitions or disembodied faces lurking within secluded places such as dressing rooms or bathrooms, but also sometimes even in brightly lit shops in broad daylight with other people around. Stories of shoppers being tapped, pushed, or hearing whispers right in their ear when no one was there were also common. Poltergeist activity was also not unheard of, with items sometimes hurled off of shelves or store clerks opening up in the morning to find their stock rearranged or even strewn about the floor.'

LANCASTER TRAIN STATION, Lancs, UK:
Railway staff don't just have to put up with fare-dodging passengers or trees on the line, some have also got to punch paranormal tickets. In 2013, Virgin Rail staff at Lancaster told how empty rooms on platform three were the centre of spooky activity. Virgin Trains team leader Scott Millington said, 'Staff don’t like coming up here on their own, they tend to hear footsteps. People won’t come up here at night. I was in this room hoovering and my colleague was next door and I saw a shadow going out through the door of the room on the other side.'

THE WHITE HOUSE, Washington, US:
Being President of the USA comes with its own unique stresses. And those in the Oval Office also have to deal with the ever-present issue of ghosts, too, according to some eyewitnesses. Last week President George W Bush's daughter Jenna Bush Hager- who lived there between 2001 and 2009 - told the Today programme, 'My phone rang, it woke us up in the middle of the night. We had a fireplace in our room, and all of a sudden, we started hearing, like, 1920s piano music, as clear as day, coming out of the fireplace. The next week, we heard the same thing but opera. And we talked ourselves out of it, but then I said to a guy, Buddy, one of my favourite men in the world, who still works at the White House. I said, “Buddy, you wouldn’t believe what we heard last night.” And he goes, “Oh, Jenna, you wouldn’t believe what I’ve heard.” It’s haunted! It’s scary, but they came with all good intentions. They were friendly ghosts.’
