Pierce employees celebrate qualifications

"The combination of AAT training and structured in-house mentoring here at Pierce has given them a solid foundation of knowledge and expertise that we are sure will benefit our clients."
John Green, Chairman, Pierce

Two Pierce employees that chose the path of on-the-job training over university are celebrating new industry qualifications.

Adam Zinga has gained the internationally recognised AAT qualification while working as an accounts assistant at the firm while Philip Johnson has obtained a foundation degree in payroll management.

Adam commented: “Professional experience counts for everything nowadays, so I opted to combine a role in industry with study rather than going to university. By combining AAT with my work at Pierce, I’ve essentially had the theory and the practical at the same time. Critically though, I’ve gained a lot of client service experience which is absolutely invaluable. It feels great to be qualified and have my skills recognised.”

Adam’s key role at Pierce is helping clients integrate cloud software into their business ahead of the introduction of Making Tax Digital in April 2019.

Adam added: “Cloud software packages are popular with our clients as they save time and make their jobs easier.  Myself and other members of the online services team at Pierce are constantly attending webinars and courses to boost our knowledge of software packages to keep ahead of the game and so we can advise all of our clients accordingly.”

Philip started working at Pierce as an apprentice and through his hard work, skill and determination, he has progressed in his career, becoming assistant payroll manager whilst completing his foundation degree with the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP).

Philip’s qualification enhances the expertise within the payroll department and provides him with a greater understanding of management skills.

Philip said: “I’ve learnt so much from my foundation degree and it has provided me with the right skills and experience to assist the payroll manager with day-to-day management. The qualification has also enabled me to advise clients on legislation including the apprenticeship levy, payrolling benefits in kind and auto-enrolment.”

John Green, chairman of Pierce said: “Adam and Philip have put in lots of extra time to study outside work so we’re delighted that they’ve gained their qualifications. The combination of AAT training and structured in-house mentoring here at Pierce has given them a solid foundation of knowledge and expertise that we are sure will benefit our clients.

“As a business, we have a strong emphasis on training our staff. As well as appointing qualified professionals, we also offer quality training opportunities for graduates as well as apprentices looking for an exciting and motivating career.”
